||
Ferritic 441 stainless steel square tube is engineered for exhaust and hot gas ducting where repeated heating and cooling destroys ordinary austenitic grades. The grade combines about 18 percent chromium with a dual stabilisation of niobium and titanium, which locks up carbon and nitrogen so that chromium carbide cannot precipitate at the grain boundaries during welding or service. That single metallurgical detail is what keeps the heat affected zone ductile after hundreds of thermal cycles between 300 and 900 degrees Celsius.
The low nickel content also gives 441 a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of mild steel, roughly 10.5 millionths per degree, so a manifold or duct designed in carbon steel can be converted to 441 with only minor changes to expansion joints and hanger spacing. Compared with 409 or 439, the higher chromium and molybdenum free chemistry of 441 lifts the oxidation limit and improves resistance to condensate attack at the cold end of the system.

The typical application is automotive exhaust: manifold outlets, downpipes, mid sections of the hot end, muffler shells and internal baffles, plus heat shields and brackets that must survive underbody temperatures. Outside automotive, the tube is used for flue and chimney liners in wood and pellet stoves, hot air ducting in industrial ovens, burner components, and heat exchanger frames where thermal cycling and condensate meet. The square form is often specified for exhaust frames and battery tray structures in commercial vehicles where rectangular sections simplify bracket attachment.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceTubes are supplied in 6 m lengths, interleaved with kraft paper, strapped in bundles and shipped in containers with moisture absorbing desiccant. Each lot is certified with chemical composition, mechanical properties and grain size, and welded samples can be supplied with bend and hardness test results for customer approval. We hold a minimum 1.5 percent titanium plus niobium stabilisation ratio verification on every heat before rolling.
