| Highlight: | 254SMO stainless steel square tube,PREN 43 seawater desalination tube,super austenitic square tube |
||
Super austenitic 254SMO square tube is the answer when seawater, chlorinated process water or flue gas condensate attacks ordinary 316L within months. The grade carries about 20 percent chromium, 18 percent nickel, 6 percent molybdenum and 0.2 percent nitrogen, a combination that produces a pitting resistance equivalent number above 43 and a critical pitting temperature typically above 85 degrees Celsius when measured to ASTM G48. In practical terms, that means a tube wall that survives chlorides at concentrations and temperatures where 316L would pit through in a single season.
The high nitrogen content also stabilises the austenitic structure, so the tube keeps its toughness and does not form harmful intermetallic phases during welding in the thickness range we supply. Compared with duplex 2205, 254SMO offers higher molybdenum for oxidising chloride environments and better resistance to crevice attack under gaskets and clamps, while remaining fully austenitic and therefore easy to fabricate with conventional TIG practice.

Seawater desalination plants use these sections for membrane skid frames, pump support structures and brine line supports where splash and spray keep surfaces permanently wet. Flue gas desulphurisation absorbers specify the grade for internal walkways, lances and agitator supports exposed to chloride laden slurry. Other applications include offshore platform handrails and cable trays, chemical tanker deck structures, pulp mill bleach plant frames, and heat exchanger tube supports in cooling water service. The square profile suits welded frame construction where stiffness and clean drainage matter more than aerodynamic shape.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceTubes are pickled and passivated, wrapped in PE film, packed in seaworthy plywood crates with vapour corrosion inhibitor and shipped with a full documentation pack. Third party inspection by SGS, BV, DNV or Lloyd's Register can be arranged for offshore projects, and we issue NORSOK compliant certificates when the end user requires them. A twelve month warranty covers material conformity, with replacement of any length that fails independent chemical verification.
