4032-T651 round aluminum bar is a heat-treatable aluminum-silicon alloy carrying roughly 12% silicon, a composition engineered for components that must hold precise dimensions while rubbing against other metal parts at elevated temperature. The dense silicon particle network gives 4032 excellent wear resistance and a coefficient of thermal expansion lower than most aluminum alloys, which keeps piston skirts, ring grooves and compressor bores stable as engine temperatures climb. The T651 temper adds a controlled stretch after solution heat treatment to lock in dimensional stability for subsequent machining.
Our bars are manufactured to a fine, uniform microstructure with silicon particles distributed evenly to avoid tool wear surprises in production. Every length is straightened, aged and released with documentation that traces chemical composition and mechanical properties to the original cast.

4032-T651 round aluminum bar is machined into pistons for diesel engines, air conditioning compressors and hydraulic pumps, plus valve retainers, wear rings and swash plate components in refrigeration machinery. The alloy also appears in high performance automotive engine programs where forged pistons are finish machined from bar stock preforms. Because thermal expansion closely matches many cast iron and steel mating components in certain temperature bands, 4032 helps designers control operating clearances more predictably than general structural alloys.
Processing ServicesWe provide sawn blanks, turned preforms and fully machined piston profiles to customer drawings, with optional diamond tool machining for production trials. Centerless ground bar is available for automatic lathe feeding, and every batch is released with material certificates documenting composition, tensile strength and hardness.
